Center of the development and support of new music DEVOTIO MODERNA is an autonomous non-profit organization, which is acting with a purpose of every kind of promotion of new music and development of innovative sonic space.

Ideology of the Center is defined by the composer and thinker Vladimir Martynov. Martynov is a connoisseur of ancient and contemporary music and culture. He wrote and published several monographs about the development of the culture and plans the practical activity of transformation of today's and tomorrow's cultural landscape.

One of the main ideas is the creation of the project "New Sacral Space". It is a very interesting trend in modern culture, which is oriented on the dialogue between different spiritual and creative traditions. The concept of "New Sacral Space" is an attempt to resist the disintegration of the modern world by creating new cultural synthesis. The starting points of the new sacral synthesis are divine-singing traditions that use canonical forms of singing: Gregorian singing of the Western church, Byzantine singing, Ancient Russian system of singing, the singing of Syria and Coptic Churches. The elements of archaic folklore, renaissance polyphony and early baroque are actualized in the forming of the new sacral space.

The essence of the new sacral space of culture is the synthesis of all these canonical traditions with the methods of modernism and postmodernism from the point of view of modern composer.

The way of "New Sacral Space" is the work on meeting point of music and ceremony, experiments with interaction of music and ritual environment, recreation of sacral structures of canonical books of Old and New Testaments in musical, musical-scenic, musical-theatrical artistic forms.

Though the Center is founded not so long ago, its founders have long and fruitful experience in joint work. Projects, that were done together are concerts and performances in Tchaikovsky Philharmonic Hall (20 years Anniversary of Academy of Ancient Music - March 2002, Christmas VERTEP - January 2002, NIGHT IN GALICIA (concert performance) - 2001), project BACH MIT UNS 2000 - Anglican Church of St. Andrew - June 2000, first personal festival of works of Vladimir Martynov - cultural center DOM - January 2002, many concerts of new music in different cities of Russia and abroad. Several CDs are published with the recordings of new actual composers, such as Vladimir Martynov, Sergey Zagny, Georgy Peletsis, Anton Batagov and others.

The organization and registration of the Center fix the cooperation between composer and thinker Vladimir Martynov, violinist and leader of the OPUS POSTH ensemble Tatiana Grindenko and musical producer Nick Dmitriev. These persons are the founders of the Center. The executive director of the Center Lyudmila Dmitrieva works on the joint projects long ago. The book-keeper of the Center, Irina Chapieva is the book-keeper of the DOM Cultural Center. She has work experience with grants of Ford Foundation.

The OPUS POSTH ensemble actively cooperates with the Center. Other ensembles, orchestras, independent musicians, sound engineers, artists, literary men, producers, designers, promoters and managers also cooperate with the Center in specific projects.
